John McLaren McBryde papers, 1883-1945.

Majority of collection consists of financial records and reports associated with the agricultural experiement stations operated by South Carolina College, including weekly payrolls identifying persons and locations affiliated with the various research stationsChiefly correspondence and business papers related to McBryde's tenure as President of University of South Carolina, including reports submitted to him as director of agricultural experiment stations in South Carolina. Volume [ca. 1895], "Notes & Statistics on South Carolina College," consisting primarily of cost figures and comparative information on other colleges and universities in and out of S.C., presumably compiled when preparing a budget request or similar project; includes statistics on the 1895-1896 sch Address [c. 1923], typescript text of a talk McBryde delivered in New Orleans re his Civil War experences early in 1861 as a member of Gregg's Regiment, First S.C. Infantry, while stationed on Sullivan's Island and Morris Island as well as his subsequent service with the "Richland Rifles" in Virginia.
